I had to stop in for ol' times sake! This little whole in the wall has been around for a long time and unless you know someone, who knows somebody that knows this place is here, you're bound to miss it! It's literally tucked away off the main roads and is a secret neighborhood gem that is as unique in flavor as it is in location. I've always ordered a carne asada burrito and a green chile burrito, because it's not often that I'm in town and these two are a must if you're a fan of Isaac's Cafe. The carne asada has a flavor that is so hard to replicate (seriously, I've tried!) and the green chile (pork meat) is the spice that every one needs to put in their life! It's hot and OMG delicious!!! I only eat half of each burrito and save the rest for later, because they are a good size meal. The carne asada burrito is stuffed with meat, fresh avocado slices and pico de gallo. The green chile burrito is just the pork meat simmered in a spicy green chile sauce, which I think is the reason I've always loved this food. The burritos do not come packed with beans and rice like other places, but you do pay a pretty penny to get an all meat burrito. However, despite the higher than what you'd expect prices, the food is so worth it! If you've never been to Isaac's, I say, you should, now that you know somebody (me!) who knows this place is here! It's a family-run restaurant where you order at the counter and food is brought to your table. The place is always very clean and though small, has an ample amount of seating. There is plenty of street parking and also on-site parking available. I happened to stop in around 1:30, but if I remember correctly, this place can get very busy during the lunch hour. Friendly service!
Isaac's Cafe in Wilmington offers the area's finest burritos. The chile verde burrito features generous portions of tender, well-cooked pork throughout a substantial tortilla, all enveloped in a flavorful tomatillo sauce with perfectly balanced onions and seasonings. The carne asada taco surpasses typical street fare; two corn tortillas are filled with exceptional carne asada, complemented by fresh tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. A burrito and carne asada taco combination will leave you thoroughly satisfied. All of Isaac's dishes are delicious, well-seasoned, and appropriately spiced. They offer a selection of flavorful red and green salsas with a pleasant kick. Throughout my dining experiences, the service has consistently been friendly and welcoming.
Isaac's is the bomb. The carne asada has so much flavor and the meat is so tender. The bottom of the burrito is very juicy. The green jones does not disappoint- lean tender pork in a spicy green sauce with lots of gooey cheese!! A co-worker took me here in 1985 and we've been coming ever since. We drive all the way from Seal Beach!!!!
Best burritos in the area friendly service been coming over 40 years there doing something right
When I walked in I wanted some sigma meals so I asked for some and they said they also had skibidi slicers so I got that for caseoh and I got a bloxy Cola on for the drink and it was preppy so preppy that I said "it's so preppy in here" Isaac said he has some alpha drinks only for alphas so I got them bc Yk... I'm an alpha and it was cheap for California bc it's expansive and I saw the diddy party in the back and I said I wanna go in and they said no so that's why it's a 4 stars
Love the staff, restaurant is very clean. Chili verde is spicy and so tasty. When I order bean and rice burrito, I have them add chili verde sauce inside and this way it isn't overpowering for me, as I can't take the heat. All burritos here are good!
I've been to Isaac's many times over the years but really only get one of two items. The Jones burrito or the chili verde burrito. The later is a very spicy burrito with tender pork and the jones burrito is a beef burrito with beans , cheese avocado and a red sauce. Both are delicious and I would give them a 4.5.
I had blood work drawn nearby and had to fast, so I was hungry. I wanted to try a local breakfast burrito. I got the dispatch burrito with bacon. It was GREAT! it had a red sauce in it that made it next level. 10/10 would recommend!
They are back! Better than ever! I have been hitting Isaac's since the 70s back when Isaac was present. Moms was the the one actually making the secret carne. Seen this business grow through multiple generations. Something to be proud of! I really missed them when they shut down for awhile.
Came to Wilmington for a funeral and unfortunately were given the wrong time so we had 2 hours to wait. Search for a place to get something to eat and found this place and what a gem. We are from Orange County so first thank you Yelp for the reviews. The food is so fresh. The carne asada burrito was so good and the meat tender. My daughter had the chorizo and eggs burrito and she kept saying this is so good. Food was fantastic and fresh. Service was awesome. So polite and friendly. Might have to drive from the OC again for our burrito fix. We ate at their location which had chairs and tables. Everything was clean and it was just really enjoyable.
